Picking up the perfect Prom dress is really fun, but it can be frustrating and overwhelming. There are plenty of options such as strapless dresses, long sleeved dresses, short sleeved dresses, long length, mid length or even short dresses. Do you know what you want? How about a short sleeve or long sleeve dress?

Long Sleeve Dress
Some people feel more comfortable wearing dresses with sleeve. Personally, long sleeve dress makes me feel sophisticated and elegant. Long sleeve dress with mermaid skirt is very unique and classy. Whereas figure-flattering  long sleeve dress is gorgeous because the silhouette that compliments your body and makes you look and feel beautiful.

Short Sleeve Dress
Short sleeve dress has this fun and flirty feel in a comfortable way because it doesn’t reveal too much skin. Some short sleeve dresses have this dramatic accent on the sleeves or around the neckline which make it stunning!

Mignon – Designer Interview

bloghp

This week the designer spotlight falls on NYC based design house Mignon. We meet husband and wife team Vincent and Ankur Mignon who tell us about the line’s Hollywood Glamour look and what’s hot this season…

Mignon is a family run business and has been around in one form or another since the 20′s. Mignon and their sister collection, LM Collection, collaborates with Christyne Forti bringing together glamorous and accessibly priced evening wear.
The signature style of the brand is one of traditional Hollywood Glamour. Lace and intricate beading play a large part in their lines, which provide that red carpet feel for any event. A top seller this season is VM570 (below left), a light blush gown with delicate beading and a vintage feel that is right on trend this season. Mignon’s best seller season on season is 53229 (below center and right). this one shoulder, beaded gown comes in a range of colors and strikes a perfect balance of glamour and delicate design.

Mignon dresses are a favorite for prom and red carpet alike, the collection was featured on Dancing with the Stars in 2009 and has been seen on Actress Ilona Saic during 2012 NY Fashion Week and Baylie Brown on American Idol 2012. Dress like The Hunger Games Cast

Dress like The Hunger Games
For those of you who have watched The Hunger Games movie would have known who’s the champion. But the competition doesn’t stop there, let’s check out their selection of red carpet gowns! Some chose sequined sexy dress, others chose dramatic haute couture gowns. Scroll down to see The Hunger Games’ casts’ dresses and how to steal their look!
Jennifer Lawrence
Jennifer, who played as the main character, Katnis Everdeen, has become a major focus in this movie. She looked stunning in a gold cut out dress and also in a gold sequined halter neck dress. She also looked gorgeous in a backless dress, mini teal dress with low V-neck, and recently Jennifer looked very attractive in a sheer red dress.
Amandla Stenberg
Amandla who played as Rue, is the youngest actress in this movie. Being young does not make her less stylish. She chose sequined mint dress combined with the hair style of Old Hollywood, making her look very elegant. My favorite is the LBD with a halter neck and ribbon detail, very girly yet still edgy. To look fresh and elegant, keep the hairstyle simple.

Elizabeth Banks

This comedy actress managed to become the center of attention on the red carpet. She chose sexy backless dress full of sequins. Dresses in bright colors like tangerine, yellow, and fuchsia looked really great with her skin complexion.
Isabelle Fuhrman
She’s only 15 years old, played in several movies, and dress like a superstar! I truly like her sleeveless gown with sequins all over it. As for the premier, she chose a mini dress with dramatic fringe details.
Kalia Prescott
Kalia is a model who is expanding her career to become an actress. She has a perfect figure to wear dresses with a variety of silhouettes. For The Hunger Games premiere, she wore a dramatic couture gown with fur detail and unusual silhouettes. As for the event during the day, she chose white trapezium dress, and tangerine one-shoulder dress to attend the after party.
Would you dress like one of The Hunger Game casts?
The key is simple: instead of splurging on the exact same dress, you can easily find similar dresses (similar cut, similar color) on MissesDressy.com
Happy hunting!

Ball Gowns
You do not go to a Prom every day, so why not go all out and dress like a Princess for a night? Ball gown is the classic and exquisite piece of dress. It used to be worn on formal events, but now you can see it all over the runways and red carpet.

I would like to share some of my tips to shop while you’re on a budget…

  • Decide how much money you want to spend for the whole outfit (dress, accessories, shoes)
Say, your budget is $300, find a dress that costs around $150 to $ 200, then you can use the rest of the money for accessories (necklace, earrings, bracelet – if necessary) and shoes.
  • Go for non-traditional dress
Typically, Prom dress is a classic princess-y ball gowns, but fashion is about thinking outside the box and creating trends. We are so lucky to live in this modern era that most of the things doesn’t have to be traditional. You no longer have to wear a ball gown (unless you really want to). Choose a statement mini dress, easy to wear and no need to worry about someone stepping on your dress. Or gorgeous chiffon dress, or even fabulous printed dress to look stunning and different than others.

Spring/Summer 2012 Trend Report

featured

Spring is officially here and next thing you know, summer is just around the corner.  So what better way to prep for the season than to update your wardrobe with the latest spring and summer trends?  To help you with that, I’ve summed up the best of this season’s trends from the biggest names in the runway to get to your closet!  In this trend report, I’m featuring pieces from Charlie Jade because the label stands for the bohemian spirit of the season, and what is spring and summer without that carefree bohemian vibe?  So, ladies, sit back and relax as you read and take fashion notes from my trend report!

Spring/Summer 2012 Trend #1: Floral Feast

Flower power is definitely in this season, as shown by this Peter Som number.  Although florals have been around from seasons back, flower prints this year are smaller, but still filling entire pieces for that uber-feminine vibe.

Spring/Summer 2012 Trend #2: Animal Instincts

Animal prints will still be in fashion this spring and summer, but they’re going to be more soft and subtle than they were in last fall and winter.  As demonstrated by this Oscar de la Renta piece (above), animal prints this season will have a more delicate approach with an understated fierceness that they will always have.  These Charlie Jade numbers also show us subtle fierceness:

Spring/Summer 2012 Trend #3: Tangerine Twist

Oranges and tangerines are the top bright colors this season because they highlight a lady’s luscious natural tan.  Channel that sexy tropical vibe just like that of these Fashion Week pieces with Charlie Jade’s hot tangerine dresses:

L-R: C1130MNG; C1450IT51; C1433MNG

Spring/Summer 2012 Trend #4: Bold Geometric/Tribal Prints

What sets S/S ’12 from previous seasons of years past is its fixation on bold prints, both geometric and tribal in nature.  Bold and large or small and intricate, this season loves colourful prints that are eye-catching, but still having that bohemian sensibility that the season never loses.  Our collection of Charlie Jade dresses consists of many dresses with these prints, all to cater to your inner stylista:

So there goes my Spring/Summer Trend Report for ya! Good luck and have fun styling your wardrobe for the new season! xx

Pastel Perfection

Pastel Perfection

Spring and Summer 2012 is being invaded by the pretty pastel colors such as cream, light pink, coral, and peach. Not only these soft colors are easy and safe to mix and match with other colors, they are also suitable for every skin tone.

Some designers and fashion houses released these colors into their collections. If you do like the girly style, these colors are perfect for you!
Want to wear pastel colors to Prom? Check out some of MissesDressy.com’s adorable collections…

Some tips to wear pastel colors:

  • Add accessories with matching color to look more special. The size of accessories (necklaces, bangles, earrings) should be adjusted to the event (for formal events, wear small and dainty jewelry; whereas for parties, big bangles or statement necklaces are fine).
  • Baby blue and mint green is very common. Mix baby blue or mint green with coral to look fresh, stylish, and add a punch to it.
  • Want to look more edgy with pastel colors? Simply add a crop leather jacket and a studded bracelet.
