Is the Ombre Hair Trend Still Hot?

featured ombre

Defined as “shaded or graduated in tone” ombre is the french term we’ve heard buzzing around lately. You may have noticed a lot of girls rocking this trend in street style along with A-listers like Britney Spears and Alexa Chung. Giving off a grown out look, the hairdo transitions from darker shades at the roots to lighter shades at the ends and has become a fun way to experiment with multiple colors. It’s even pretty fairly low-maintenance as it allows fewer trips to the hairdresser. But since it’s popularity has begun to die down we’re wondering, is the trendy ombre ‘do still hot?

We’re not totally sure if this trend is still in but just in case you’re considering the ombre look, here are a few tips.  Try temporary dye or hair chalk; with these you can play around with more vibrant colors like pink and blue. You can also select colors according to your skin tone. For darker tones try deep reds, bright caramel, and shades of ash. For medium skin tones brown, muted blonde and gold work best. And for fair skin you can go for lighter blondes and also ash tones.

Weigh in: Is the ombre hair trend still hot?

natasha-willy1

In the fashion industry it’s very important to stay inspired.  As a way to check out the latest trends or figure out how to assemble an outfit, fashion editorials are a great source of inspiration.  While flipping through magazines can make it tough to visualize certain looks, daily style tips are always hidden somewhere in the high-fashion clouds. Who knows, the editorial might inspire you to D.I.Y. that belt and dress the model was wearing or drive you to rework items that have been sitting in your closet season after season.

How-To Wear Lace

lace-street-style2

Sexy might be the first thing that comes to mind when we think of lace, but if you play around with it the look can be cool as well.  Lace may not be for everyone, as it is difficult to pair with certain articles and can be quite revealing. For those of you that want to try out a lace look but don’t know where to start, consider something with lace embroidery.

Matching lace with neon can really bring out the pop in lace detailing.  For a more casual look you can try wearing a shirt underneath a lace dress, making it less revealing and edgy at the same time. Try pairing it with silver jewelry or pick a lace skirt, shorts, or casual sweater, and your all set!

Baroque Trend

938-dolce-gabbana-s-baroque-romanticism2012-milan-fashion-week

Were going back into history back into the 17th Century in the fashion world, if you might have noticed the baroque trend are seen everywhere at the moment, from dresses, tops, bags to shoes it’s all about baroque and it’s not actually that hard to wear because you can in-corporate it into your everyday wear.  This trend can take you from day to night without feeling overdressed.

Gold and black are the two main colors of this trend, you can easily pull of this look without feeling royal and posh by wearing a baroque patterned skirt instead of a dress and maybe match it with a plain black top or even a plain gold top and pair with flats for the daytime and heels for the evening but please do keep the jewelry there’s a lot of texture and details on the fabrics already so you don’t want too much going on.  If you feel that the clothes are going to be too dramatic for you then you can always tone it down by opting for baroque inspired socks, jewelry, bags and shoes.

Dolce & Gabbana first led baroque onto the catwalk and now we can all rock this trend from the highstreet stores, it’s all about mixed prints, textured fabrics, jewels and velvet.  It’s really hot this season so try it out and have some fun.

Studded Accessories

LB1

When people think of studs the first thing that might come to their mind is ‘Punk’, but nowadays not only punks wear studded clothes, bags, shoes and accessories we all can now and it’s not really classed as punk anymore because in the fashion world it’s now a fashion statement.  Studded garment and accessories are basically a must-have right now, I’ve noticed a lot of people like to do a bit of their own D.I.Y. and most people usually end up customizing their old shorts, canvas shoes etc with studs.

Walking out in the streets with something studded even if it’s just a pair of studded flats makes you feel and look extra cool, yes that may sound quite strange but it’s true and you do tend to get a few extra pair of eyes staring at you.  Studded accessories, clothes are a very eye-catching as you all know, it’s not a come and go trend but it’s a trend which has been around for quite a while and also planning to stay for longer.  If you can’t find the studded denim jacket or shorts, go and buy a pack of studs and do some D.I.Y.

Carry a clutch

6a00d83451cbb069e2017c316df90e970b-800wi

Do you prefer to carry a clutch out all day or would you prefer to carry a bag as it’s much easier, just throw it over your shoulder and that’s it?  A clutch is a great way to accessorize any outfit, when you’re choosing a clutch I think it’s always best to pick one with a great amount of details like pop art, embellishment, prints and the shape is very important too because it would help to spice any outfit up if you’re not in the mood to dress up.  A clutch isn’t just a clutch it’s also something you can play around with, mix and match it with the clothes you’re wearing or match it with the jewelry you’re wearing.

Carrying a clutch out tends to attract more attention than carrying a bag nowadays, well unless it’s Chanel or a bright colored bag.  Some people might think you can’t fit much into a clutch but don’t worry a large clutch is great for the evening now, you don’t have to carry a tiny little clutch out in the evenings anymore because that’s rather old skool.  Oversized is the key word in fashion now.

Nail Art

untitled folder 34-001

I imagine every girl likes to get pampered once in a while like going to the spa, getting a facial or simply a manicure can make a girl happy.  Walking out of the house with not so good-looking chipped nail polish honestly isn’t pretty and unattractive so if you have time it’s always good to make your nails look pretty because sometimes the first thing some people might look at are your nails.  Nail art has become very big throughout the last couple of years especially in the asian world for example Japan, Hong Kong, China, Thailand etc.  Some people leave the salon with a simple plain color, some like drawn on patterns but some people might like their nails to look rather outrageous by adding some lace, beads, 3D flowers, 3D cartoon characters, 3D bows and many more on their nails.  Flashing nail art is a fun thing as it’s not only a beauty statement but it’s slowly also becoming a fashion statement too, sometimes nails need to match what you’re wearing too.

As a girl myself when I see pretty gorgeous nails on some girls, in the magazine and on the internet I’d get a little fascinated myself and want to get the same done to mine too, but if it’s too outrageous then I would give it a miss.  I suppose I would only get gel patterned nails and no further than that as I personally don’t like to make a statement with my nails.  Do you like nail art and how far did you go with it?  Let us know!

Graphic Prints

street-style-floralprint-jackets-4-1

Have you been rocking some sort of graphic printed top, trousers or skirt because it’s rather big right now.  Again it’s seen all over the streets during Fashion week.  Givenchy, Kenzo and many other designers are all about graphic printed sweaters and T-shirts at the moment for example like the Givenchy shark printed T-shirt you see most bloggers wearing.  Playing with prints is super fun because you have a choice of matching print on print, keeping it simple by just matching it with something plain and just concentrate on one graphic printed garment, mixing prints by wearing different prints together or add some statement accessories like a necklace, statement earrings it’s totally up to you on what you want to do.

If you’re thinking I  just want to keep it simple and casual then you can just simply wear a printed tee with jeans, flats and a cute statement necklace and maybe adding a black blazer would be cool too.

Streetstyle: Details

2e926673c0173809ff86239663f38c7a

Street style alert!  Check out those details from every outfit, the accessories, colors, prints, shoes and arm swag, just that little bit can bring out the pop from the whole outfit.  Even if the outfit was originally really plain and boring but just by adding on that little detail like a printed jacket, a bright colored top, a statement necklace or even those super high heels can make your total look brighten up in seconds.

I personally think it’s really important to pay attention to the detailing when it comes to building up an outfit, maybe pick out one specific thing you would like to stand out and dress around that.  Like a printed top for example of course you would want that to be the centre of attention maybe so you would want everything else to be plain, like a plain black skirt or jeans but you could add a chunky statement necklace too…just to add a little more to make things look more cool!

Are you rocking the armswag trend because I am and it’s one of the timeless trends I’m loving right now.  It’s super fun to have all those bright colored bracelets on your wrists and maybe a it of bling too, wear them with your watch (only that’s if you like wearing a watch).
