Non-Cookie Cutter Brides, Meet the Rania Hatoum Collection

Rania Hatoum Bridal Collection

We are so delighted to present to you the newest addition to our roster of designer bridal couture, Rania Hatoum Collection. This luxury brand, with its designer (in photo below) as its namesake, boasts of a perfect mix of “refinement and sensuality” expressed through the use of luxurious fabrics and through intricate embellishments.

Don’t get us wrong though, this brand may be all about class, but you’ll notice, as we have, how each of its pieces yell out individuality and uniqueness. Its designs are not cookie-cutter for sure.

We would absolutely recommend this brand to brides who prefer to make a statement of their personality through their wedding dress. So brides who are edgy or whimsical or minimalist or uber romantic, meet the Rania Hatoum Collection:

The piece above is LUMIERE. It showcases a bodice with Swarovski crystal embellishments and a tulle ball gown skirt.

RADIANCE features a V-neckline and scoop back. What we love about it is how it is intricately beaded throughout, with the beads embroidered to form geometric patterns.

REGAL has deconstructed French Alecon lace applique covering its bodice. It is made of charming crinkle silk organza and adorned with pearls throughout. Its mermaid skirt ends with a train having scalloped hemline.

PROMENADE is a lovely tea-length tulle piece with a dainty uneven hemline. It showcases a French Guipure lace top with cap sleeves.

DUNROBIN is a silk duchess satin and organza ball gown with a sheer top covering a sexy sweetheart neckline. The cap sleeves and organza band are embellished with silver appliques and beads.

This fashion forward bridal piece is COLETTE. It is a body skimming trumpet shape gown made of silk satin sheath in ivory. The freshest thing about it is the silk crinkle cape made of chiffon which is long enough to serve as a train, and is detachable.

Fashion Trends on the Kids’ Choice Awards ’13 Orange Carpet

Nickelodeon's 26th Annual Kids' Choice Awards - Arrivals

Nickelodeon’s annual Kids’ Choice Awards (KCA) were held on Saturday night, March 23rd at USC’s Galen Center in LA. The gorgeous Josh Duhamel was on post for the hosting duties; and (we can’t help but gush about how) he was his usual cute-witty self.

Quite a number of fun and funny A-listers were there –the likes of Niel Patrick Harris, Adam Sandler, Sandra Bullock, Johnny Depp, and Steve Carell. Beautiful and sexy ladies like Katy Perry, Fergie, and Jessica Alba also made their appearance. Kid-favorite stars wowed the crowd of course, causing some high-pitched screams and shrieks: Kristen Stewart, Selena Gomez, Victoria Justice, Bella Thorne, Miranda Cosgrove, and many more.

As for the fashion, well, the KCA orange carpet gave kind of a more chill vibe as stars did without uber formal dresses. Almost everybody settled for mini dresses, some for tea-length dresses and dressed down suits. Colors of spring and summer were abundant –and quite appropriately so– well because kids like brights and lights, don’t they? It’s their show anyway. And, (we approve that) the youngsters stuck to fresher and hipper hues instead of going for the premature maturing darker shades.  The trends? They were as follows:

Caftan Craze for S/S ’13

CAFTAN CRAZE 2013

Stealing the spotlight for the Spring/Summer ’13 season is the trusty caftan.

According to wisegeek.org, “A caftan, also spelled kaftan, is a long garment with wide sleeves that dates back to ancient Mesopotamia, located between the countries of Iraq and Iran. These Persian, robe-like garments also became popular in countries such as Russia and Morocco. Their patterns and colors are usually vivid and detailed. They are a vacation fashion staple that began being considered fashionable in western countries since the 1960s and ’70s.”

Caftan is a wonderful wardrobe staple for ladies who like to work a boho gypsy look, or the flower-child 70′s vibe –styling it with flower crowns, braids and waves, flats, and fringed bags.

To some, the caftan, with its iconic bright and colorful patterns, forms part of the glamorous getaway gear. The equal parts comfort and style it gives make it the perfect go-to piece for the resort season. Its lightweight floaty soft fabric allows it to be an absolute fit for travel or cruise, taking you from beach to brunch, from poolside to late night cocktails, as a swimsuit cover-up, or as a dress by itself.

Celebrities love it. Check-out just some of them below:

And, here are some of our favourite caftan pieces from S/S ’13 designer lookbooks and runways:

As if it’s not awesome enough, caftan has also charged into bridal fashion, and still makes sense, especially for a destination wedding. See below our very own Janique evening gown, which could very well be a wedding gown for a bride who likes the goddess look; and, a piece from Temperley London S/S ’13 bridal collection:

So, any chance we’ll see you in a caftan this beach season? ^^

Spring/Summer 2013 Trend: Crop Tops and Bralettes

SS 13 Trend by MissesDressy

Crop tops (examples above) and bralettes (like the ones below), have always been used to make that modern, edgy, fierce fashion statement. And according to fashionising.com, they may well continue to be a fresh style even if they are repeated era after era because they are, “a trend that can never become over-saturated – it’s not for everyone”.

Okay so showcasing the bare belly is not for everybody. But for that certain somebody, believe it or not, crop tops and bralettes form part of the bare essentials for Spring/Summer. We at least hope to inspire you to try this trend; that is, if you still need convincing. If you are that lady who has gone through the wringer to achieve that decently toned abs, or that fearless female who wants to bare just the right amount of skin (hey it is skin season), the midriff is your new accessory. Give it a chance, if you haven’t yet, just like these loveys:

 Rihanna

Sienna Miller

Leighton Meester

Darling fashionistas from the high-street.

Anyway, if styled correctly and with the right length, crop tops and bralettes may emphasize the narrowest part of the body: the first waist —so size 4+ women may just be able to pull it of. They are best paired with high-waist skirts, shorts, or trousers. For 2013, update the look with the sheer maxi skirt or the skinniest jeans or pencil cotton pants or layer with leather or square jackets. Here are just a few styles from the runway that may just help to convince you guys that this trend is hot.

Mara Hoffman

Versace

Charlotte Ronson

Jason Wu

So, are you in or are you out? ^^

At-TEN-Hut! 2013 Pre-Fall Collections

Pre-Collections Fall-Winter 2013-2014

Our trusty fashion and style source, Vogue.com, recently presented the designer collections for pre-Fall 2013. As we reviewed them for you, we noticed an apparent trend. Sound the alarm! Yes sir, code words include: military, tailored, androgynous, masculine-ish, corporate, over-sized, padded, leather, and trench. It seems that our favorite top designers have worked on collections that could dress an army (get it?) of powerful independent women. We are going to see feminized baggy and stiff pieces that may not hug the figure, but scream tough, no-nonsense, we-mean-business kind of air; pieces that are, in their own right, as sexy as a skimpy lingerie. You don’t believe us? Check out these ten designer collections that will explicitly prove our point.

Sure, Calvin Klein Collection will always be about minimalism, but [Francisco] Costa seems to have turned away from the hyper-femininity he presented for Spring to focus instead on a covered-up, pared-down wearability. Costa wouldn’t say whether any of this was indicative of what he’s planning for fall, but only said, “It’s the same woman. There’s a sense of strength, security, and beauty. It’s all about beauty, after all.” ~by Emily Holt for Vogue.com

Erdem Moralioglu is a perfect exemplar of that fired-up London ambition to leap further, do better, and delight more. Pre-Fall isn’t just something he’s dashed off on the way to the more important Fall show. “It’s my laboratory,” he says. “It’s where I can experiment, and think about where my woman’s going next.” ~by Sarah Mower for Vogue.com

Narciso Rodriguez has been moving toward a more languid line since last season, and he’s taken that gentle freedom of movement a step further for pre-fall. “Let the newness be in the cut,” said Rodriguez, turning toward a model in slouchy burnt-orange pants and a beaded rust-colored tee that draped loosely across the shoulder. The palette recalled the warm hues that came through for spring, as did the cool, easy attitude. ~by Chioma Nnadi for Vogue.com

PCA Red Carpet

The 39th Annual People’s Choice Awards (PCA) was held Wednesday night, January 9th at the Nokia Theater in L.A. The memorable moments from the show were Taylor Swift’s plunging neckline and her being Kanye’d by award presenter Olivia Munn, Hunger Games’ 5-award victory, powerhouse performances by equally talented artists Alicia Keys and Christina Aguilera, and many others.

But, there’s no mistaking that we all tuned in more-so to see what our favorite celebrities wore on the red carpet. We dare report that based on the PCA’s red carpet, our Hollywood style idols are still quite hungover with the 2012 fashion. They donned some of the top trends in fashion from last year. Get Two Looks with the Convertible Dress

The 2-in-1 Dress | Mc Duggal 85172R

While “window shopping” through our latest collection of evening dresses, we’ve noticed a trend that will surely be a hit come Prom and Homecoming season. Our esteemed and not to mention, clever designers gave Prom and Homecoming dresses a tasteful twist this 2013; thus, the birth of the 2-in-1 convertible dress. Get this, with one super dress, you can have two smashing looks for your special night –and, without the complication of having to follow a how-to manual.

Above dress by Mac Duggal (85172R) is one example of what we’re taking about. It has a full skirt, much like a gown. It looks more like a hi-lo dress and/or a dress that has a slit. Then, by simply removing the belted skirt, you get a glamorous short jumpsuit or mini dress. Fantastic, right?

Here’s another example of the said 2-look dress. It’s by Sherri Hill, and it’s one of our favorites.

Sherri Hill 21165

And even better, this lace number comes in two other stand-out colors.

Sherri Hill 21165

Just a little tip, try the ball-gown look of the dress for your grand entrance into your Prom or Homecoming; take pictures with your lovely escort, slow dance, and such. Then later on in the night, transform for party mode in the sexy mini version of the dress. You’ll be able to move more freely and look more relaxed. To completely change-up the look, try changing your shoes and accessories. Imagine that; and more, your Prom pictures would be more fun to look at. Have we got you interested? Who’s Game for a Hilarious 2013 Golden Globes? (Video)

70th Golden Globe Awards

“This show is going to be like a grenade waiting to explode,” says Amy Poehler. ”A sexy sexy grenade,” replies Tina Fey.

“It’s gonna be: Splendid. Wondrous. Clever. Filled with surprises. An extreme pageantry. Slightly ghetto. DRUNKEN(?!). And that’s just the red carpet, y’all.” ~Amy Poehler, Tina Fey

Could the 70th Golden Globe Awards be made more interesting, “explosive” even? They call it a party when it’s an awards show. And, it’s red carpet? –Well, drunken and slightly ghetto at best, splendid and an extreme pageantry at its worst. This should be fun!

Seems that the Golden Globes would be fun AND fun-ny as ever. Set to air live on the 13th of January 2013, Sunday, on NBC, the show made a great promise when its promo ad featuring the lovely artists Amy Poehler and Tina Fey, announced that the dynamic duo, who have outstanding wits and hilarious comedic chemistry, would in fact be the masters of ceremony. The Golden Globes honor both TV and film, and Amy Poehler describes it below. Tina Fey also remarks on the reason that they accepted the gig. Watch the full interview in the video below.

“It’s a kind of very sloppy, loud party, and that seemed like our kind of thing,” Fey says.

“Beautiful people of film to rub shoulders with horrible, disgusting people of television,” says Poehler.

This should be good! We can’t wait!
