Could the 70th Golden Globe Awards be made more interesting, “explosive” even? They call it a party when it’s an awards show. And, it’s red carpet? –Well, drunken and slightly ghetto at best, splendid and an extreme pageantry at its worst. This should be fun!

Seems that the Golden Globes would be fun AND fun-ny as ever. Set to air live on the 13th of January 2013, Sunday, on NBC, the show made a great promise when its promo ad featuring the lovely artists Amy Poehler and Tina Fey, announced that the dynamic duo, who have outstanding wits and hilarious comedic chemistry, would in fact be the masters of ceremony. The Golden Globes honor both TV and film, and Amy Poehler describes it below. Tina Fey also remarks on the reason that they accepted the gig. Watch the full interview in the video below.

 

“It’s a kind of very sloppy, loud party, and that seemed like our kind of thing,” Fey says.

“Beautiful people of film to rub shoulders with horrible, disgusting people of television,” says Poehler.

This should be good! We can’t wait!

After taking a look at the collection, we quickly fell in love with the designers assortment of structured pieces and whimsical pastel colors. Almost every woman’s style is somewhere hidden inside this line– from the high powered fashion moguls headed to a super important meeting, to the artists on the rise in need of a style savvy outfit for their next gallery exhibition. The gamut of stylish go-to girls is encompassed in this fun, fresh collection. If we could just get our hands on those printed high-waisted pants, or that green crocheted cardigan we too could be suited in fabulous Oscar de la Renta style… and life would be complete.

As you all know menswear isn’t necessarily our forte, but I’m pretty sure you won’t mind this exception. Since it’s debut in 2011 David Beckham Bodywear for H&M is going strong, now on its third collection of under garments and sleepwear.  The soccer player turned spokes model posted images of the line on his Facebook page yesterday with the caption, “Thought you’d like to see some of my new H&M Holiday campaign shot.” Gosh, how did he know? The new holiday campaign features t-shirts, lounge shorts, towels, and a pant-less David Beckham. Scroll slowly.

Last week São Paulo Fashion Week took place in Brazil, showcasing fashion from a variety of native designers. Though we’re not totally acquainted with the full roster, we are fans of a few supermodels that hail from the beautiful country– Gisele Bunchen, Adriana Lima, and Caroline Trentini, to name a few. One of our faves is (completely drop dead gorgeous) Alessandra Ambrosio who actually worked the catwalk, showing off her skills in the Colcci show. We were almost as fixed on the fabulous models as we were on the clothing!

Though still regarded on a different scale than New York, London, and Milan Fashion Weeks, SPFW is definitely on it’s way to the recognition and esteem that it deserves. Check out looks from our top three collections along with videos from the runway!

1. Maria Garcia Winter 2013 RTW

This collection featured fresh, clean lines with a few accessory surprises! The bucket hat was recreated and updated with frills and gloves now have wings! Ironically we also spotted a few of this seasons trends nestled in the line. Apparently slate grey, velvet, and floral print will be sticking around for another year.

2. Fernanda Yamamoto Winter 2013 RTW

Fernanda Yamamoto adds the wow-factor to ready-to-wear fashion. With simple pieces turned into staples, the collection is filled with must-haves– wish we could get our hands on a few, now!

3. Colcci Winter 2013 RTW

Structure and edge define Colcci W ’13. Incorporating military style, denim, and leather, the bad girl look has a new sleek face.

We’ve been talking fashion collabs all week! First Maison Martin Margiela for H&M, then designers partnering with Harrods department store for Disney princess designs, and now news of Prabal Gurung for Target has surfaced. Don’t you love this cozy, collaborative, “can’t we all just get along” side of fashion? Aside from the perceived disconnect with mainstream chains and high-fashion, the designer/mega store dynamic is definitely a “thing”… we’re feeling it.

Prabal Gurung has dressed some of the worlds most fabulous women and now the Singapore-born New York designer will be bringing his figure flattering, sexy and wearable pieces to Target. This isn’t the international superstores first partnership, riding on the coattails of a recent Jason Wu collab and an upcoming Neiman Marcus collection (launching Dec. 1st) that will feature 24 designers including Carolina Herrera, Oscar de la Renta, and Tracy Reese. Of the brief partnership Gurung says, “The reason I wanted to do this collaboration with Target was to offer what I do to a wider audience.”

The Prabal Gurung 80-piece collection will include clothes (ranging from $20 to $200), shoes, accessories, and jewelry (from $13 to $40) in both stores and on Target.com. It debuts on February 10th and will most likely be swept up within hours. We’re predicting a lot of bold colors and prints strolling around next Valentines Day.

By now most of us have seen the already infamous hula hoop Chanel bag from the brands Spring ’13 runway show. Public reception is mixed about the giant, super impractical accessory but whether a raised eyebrow or complimentary nob it seems to have gotten us all talking.

Chanel Creative director and fashion extraordinaire, Karl Lagerfeld sent a classically timeless collection down the runway. Staying true to the uber-feminine and clean simplicity that the brand is known for, the line was to die for. Quite literally, actually since the hula hoop bag in question is big enough it trample anyone toting it around. As one of the most talked about accessories of the S/S ’13 shows, it stuck out like the sore (or perhaps broken) thumb of the bunch. Not so much because it was hideous or poorly crafted, but for it’s obvious lack of utility and just plain enormousness. For the runway it was dazzling but for a ready-to-wear collection it’s… not. At least we didn’t think so until Lagerfeld gave a brief explanation in an interview with Telegraph saying, the reinvented shoulder bag is intended for the beach. Hmm… go on.

When imagined in that context perhaps he’s got something there. Even though I wouldn’t take Chanel-anything near water and messy sand, maybe those that can should. We’ve got to give it to Lagerfeld for his genius creativity. If I had to picture a hula hoop shaped beach bag slash towel rack I wouldn’t have imagined anything nearly this sleek. We’ll be keeping our eyes peeled to see who’s bold enough to actually wear the piece and do it some kind of justice.

True to form Chanel recently paid tribute to photographer Erwin Blumenfeld in an artistic I Love CHANEL short film.  The new additions to the Rouge Allure line are gorgeous and it helps that there are a ton of shades to choose from. The video was posted to Chanel’s Facebook page this morning and has definitely sent me on the hunt for the perfect red lip.
