Designer In Focus: Kay Unger
A native of Chicago, Kay Unger is one inspiring woman. As a child, Kay was passionate with painting, which led her to study the art at Washington University. As her passions shifted to the art of fashion design, Kay moved to the prestigious Parsons The New School For Design where she honed her expertise.
Drawing inspiration from fashion icons such as Jackie O and Audrey Hepburn, Kay’s main aim in her designs is to give women a stylish alternative when it comes to closet staples like the LBD (little black dress), among others.
Aside from the Kay Unger label, the designer established and currently heads Phoebe Couture. The latter brand caters to younger shoppers with designs that are made to flatter any body shape.
Well on her way to fashion domination, Kay Unger and Phoebe Couture creations have been seen worn by top celebs like Oprah Winfrey, Tyra Banks, and Paris Hilton. Top TV shows like “Sex and The City” have featured her designs as well.
