Prom Inspiration: 2012 Best Dresses on the Red Carpet

Prom Inspiration 2012 Best Dresses on the Red Carpet

Congratulations to the winners of the Golden Globes, People’s Choice Awards, and also the Critics Choice Awards 2012. After the trophy was shared our turn to discuss the winner of the best dresses. Early year we saw a lot of celebrities are more daring dresses with delicate details, sexy pieces, and also the choice of bold colors. Who are the most stylish celebrities???

Inspiration: Sexy Back
Still remember the backless trend some time ago? After going back and forth the catwalk, these dresses can now be seen on Claire Danes, Shailene Woodley, and Julianne Hough. Backless dress will make you look sexy but still elegant. Keep in mind to do the fittings beforehand and do not miss attach tape to avoid a wardrobe malfunction.

Wearing a tuxedo when attending a red carpet event? Why not? The celebrities above looked chic. Tilda Swinton was wearing a blazer and pants by YSL at the Critics Choice Award, and she also combined a dress and a blue blazer by Haider Ackermann at the Golden Globe Awards. Then the beautiful Emma Stone chose the green tuxedo blazer from Gucci.

Inspiration: The Little Mermaid
Mermaid gowns are quite famous at every red carpet event. In addition to this sophisticated style, the silhouette accentuates the feminine curve of each woman. My favorite mermaid gowns at the Golden Globe 2012 are: Kate Beckinsale looks like a million dollars with Roberto Cavalli gown, the blue gown worn by Kelly Osbourne designed by Zac Posen, Julianne Moore looked like a pro in her Chanel dress, and finally Sofia Vergara looked more va va VOOM by the work of Vera Wang.

Inspiration: Intricate Details
This year Lea Michele of Glee, Madonna, Evan Rachel Wood, and Diana Agron won “The Most Intricate Evening Gown Details”. Lea Michele selected dramatic gown with sexy sequin details by Marchesa. The diva, Madonna, looked stunning in Reem Acra gown. Evan Rachel Wood looked like a peacock with Gucci gown, and Riles gown worn by Diana Agron has unique laser cut details.

Inspiration: Shades of Fuchsia
Wearing red on the red carpet can the make or break your outfit! Why not choose fuchsia? Natalie Portman appeared in Lanvin gown with a graceful drapery detail, Tina Fey looked playfull with dark fuchsia tube dress with a mermaid cut by Osca de la Renta, Julianne Margulies wore long sleeve backless gown by Naeem Khan, and Ginnifer Goodwin wore a cocktail dress with trumpet sleeves by Pepto-Bismol. Shades of fuchsia make your gown stand out among the others!

Inspiration:  The Cut
This dress has pieces that are not asymmetrical, slightly abstract, and certainly rare to find on the red carpet event. These fashion Daredevil: Lucy Hale wore a black dress with pieces like the shape of the waves by Abazoglu Cengiz, Jennifer Lawrence wore a blue dress by Vicktor & Rolf, and finally the talk of the town Rooney Mara looked edgy with Nina Ricci gown.

Bright yellow felt like its giving fresh air at the awards show this year. Anyone dared to wear this color? Although Diane Kruger’s Prada dress was not entirely yellow, a splash of yellow-line illuminated her skin. Olsen twins’ sister, Elizabeth Olsen wore Emillio Pucci mini dress with embroidery details, and Elle Fanning looked pretty with sheer gray dress with yellow flowers embroidery. Last but not least, Paula Patton looked much younger with a touch of bright yellow.

Inspiration: Minimalism
Either their hairstyles and make up that matched perfectly, or the silhouette of their gowns, or the shape of their bodies, these three celebrities performed optimally with simple (yet gorgeous!) gowns. In addition to having the perfect companion, structured Versace dress is indeed made specifically to hug every inch of Angelina Jolie perfectly. Prada strapless gown looked perfect on Freida Pinto, finally Heidi Klum looked much younger and fresh in her Calvin Klein gown. Add different color or a larger size accessory so it doesn’t look plain.

Inspiration: Go Green
In addition to basic colors like black, red or navy, now green is prestige. My favorite is the custom made gown by Prada worn by Zooey Deschanel. Whitney Cummings looked all shiny, she chose a sequined short dress that she bought online for $180. Chloe Moretz looked fresh in a mini dress with crochet detail by Proenza Schouler. Nina Dobrev wore a sleeveless mini dress by Elie Saab.

Inspiration: Sheer Frenzy
Transparent dresses and gowns are no longer trend on the runway. However, it has dominated the red carpet. Vanessa Hudgen chose quiet dramatic transparent black dress with gold details by Jenny Packham. Piper Perabo stole our attention with her sheer gown by Theyskens’  Theory.

Inspiration: The Classic LBD (Little Black Dress)
Because until now, the black dress is still popular and has been proven to make anyone looks slimmer. Charlize Theron selected a black gown by Azzedine Alaïa with a mermaid silhouette and stacks  ruffles. Kristen Dunst chose a cocktail dress with very chic details. Salma Hayek’s tube dress looked glamorous with graphic details by Gucci. Mila Kunis chose the asymmetrical Christian Dior gown.
