Witching Hour by Topshop

TOPSHOP OCTOBER 2012

In time for Halloween, Topshop posted the Witching Hour photo feature (seen above) in their website. Cool and spooky, the photo set aimed at showcasing some of the label’s best black numbers.

The feature just goes to show how much Topshop seem to love black this time of the year. In fact, beautiful black dresses, over-sized sweaters, trendy black clutches, and skyscraper-high black heels mostly make up their collection. They also have a great array of  black leather jackets, skinny jeans, and skirts.

To establish their enchantment with black even more, Topshop posted quite a number of street snaps of fashionable outfits in black in their Tumblr, that us here at MissesDressy.com couldn’t help but take note of it. See which glamorously gloomy outfits on the streets got Topshop so bewitched with black.

Cobweb-like delicate lace

Sheer flowy fabric

Feathered-up heels

Rich velvet

Sleek superhero

Androgynous pointy lace-ups

Giraffe-print and zigzags

Unique head-turners

Layered textures

Hope these inspire you guys as much as they did us here at MissesDressy.com. Well, happy shopping!

Top 5 Best Dressed at the 2012 CMA Awards

cma_awards_2012

Another awards ceremony has been held, and of course, MissesDressy is here to tell you who rocked the red carpet best!

Last November 1st, the 46th Annual CMA Awards was held at the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tennessee and was packed with our favorite country stars clad in their best outfits to celebrate the evening. Let’s check out the best of the best dressed at the 2012 CMA Awards and learn a thing or two about the hottest red carpet trends:

Taylor Swift shows us that in spite of her young age, she’s a veteran of the red carpet. Clad in a dress by Jenny Packham (who’s also Kate Middleton‘s fave designer), Miss Swift kept it minimal when it came to accessories to highlight her gorgeous floral embroidered dress.

Embroidery seems to be the name of the game. Carrie Underwood donned a creamy white Reem Acra gown with gold embroidered details.

Lucy Hale went dramatic with a draped cowl neck gown from Moschino. I just love the edgy touch given by the black embellishments along middle part of the dress! Lucy also carried a black Kotur clutch, a label that MissesDressy carries!

Hayden Panettiere kept it short and sweet in a beaded mint Georges Chakra number. The flapper dress look is just perfect on the petite actress, who showcases her singing prowess in Nashville.

Minimalist chic is what country star Faith Hill channeled on the awards ceremony. She wore a streamlined black gown with ivory sleeves by Roland Mouret. Her big luscious locks gave just the right oomph to her clean, uncomplicated look.

Holiday Partying in Style: Halloween Minus the Costume

featured 1

Before we could blink twice fall was not only here but Halloween is right around the corner. Along with a great pair of leather boots and cozy knit sweaters, shopping for the perfect Halloween party look is a must. Whether you choose to hit a nightclub, attend a dinner soiree, or go to a friendly get together we’ve got great options that will put you in the high fashion Halloween spirit.

50 Shades of Grey

feature

Though the New York Times bestselling series 50 Shades of Grey suggests a slightly more risque take on fashion, we’re going for a more literal approach. As a usual fall staple color, grey is integrated in our wardrobes by way of pea coats, pants, dresses and (of course) boots. However, during this fall the ever popular shade is super on trend and is one of the many “it” colors to wear. Other autumn must-haves are oxblood, purple, and black and white mixes. Neutrals with a twist are definitely huge staples for the season ahead and grey in particular may seem to be the bore out of the bunch, but that’s not so! Grey can actually be an ideal backdrop (or star) of an outfit if used creatively. It exudes sophistication and elegance without batting an eyelash. Get your mind going with ideas by checking out our all-in-on round-up of chic grey looks including celebrity style, F/W 2012 collections, and looks straight from the streets of New York City!

Celebrities in Grey

Seperates

Katherine Heigl mixes a few grey shades, creating a clean, relaxed look.

Jenne Dewan demonstrates the effortlessness of a simple grey t-shirt; comfy and cool.

Emmy-Award winner Glenn Close wears grey head to toe for a refined red carpet look (not all power suits are black, you know).

Grey + Glam: Dresses

Leave it to Kate Middleton to exemplify any look fabulously; she wears grey beautifully with this short pleated dress.

Diane Kruger glams grey up in this embellished gown.

Love Zoe Saldana structured grey mini.

Another grey head-to-toe look worn by Rachel Weisz. The satin material almost transforms the color to lilac.

The grey skirt on Michelle William‘s embellished dress serves as the perfect compliment  along with the metallic shoes– minus the few wrinkles.. yikes.

Sleek, simple, sexy grey/silver mix on Gweneth Paltrow.

As seen here, a deeper grey can be a real statement color. Victoria Beckham  wears it well; to no ones surprise, or course…

Style Do or Don’t: Gwen Stefani and Mariah Carey

featured

Last night the NFL Kick-off concert was a smash hit (unless you are a Giants fan) featuring performances by Mariah Carey, No Doubt, and Queen Latifah. The music vets were workin’ it like they were back in the good ol’ 90′s– or at least making valiant stabs at it.  Besides the noble but slightly mediocre runs on stage we were focused on none other than the fashion. Particularly Gwen Stefani’s plaid bottoms and Mariah Carey’s sparkley gold number. Our question is, are these looks style do’s or don’ts?

The always, never fails, sure fire “glamouress” herself rocked the stage in a cut off black top and plaid pants. Along with combat boots, the outfit was a direct reflection of the “ nothing’s gonna knock this girl down” line from the groups comeback hit “Settle Down”. Was it a hit or miss? In our opinion the get-up was a bit dull for the fabulous super star. Though she is back in the mix of No Doubt, (famed for their grunge-ish look) this is still the face of Covergirl we’re talking about– then again, her was quite flawless. Overall, the outfit wasn’t a horrible choice but it would have been nice to see her in something a bit more fun. Maybe a cropped pant, sheer top, or a colored something or another. Either way, rather than of a thumbs up or down, we’ll give her a thumbs… left? Can’t give our girl Gwen too much grief.

Ms. Mariah Carey has long been the queen of short and tight get-ups, and she didn’t stray too far last night. The strapless gold high-low dress with matching wings was certainly gorgeous and eye-catching. It went well with the props on stage and fit her like a glittery glove. Did she nail it? We’d have to say yes, but she does get a small style deduction since this is her usual event look. At this point in her career we’re obviously in no place to be making suggestions, but it would be fun to see her go nuts for once.

Weigh in, how do these ladies look? If you need extra help making up your mind, check out their performances:

Black and White Style

fw6

There are few things in fashion more classic than the black and white palette. Sitting on opposite ends of the color spectrum, the pair mixes perfectly in almost any style combo. Hands down, it’s our favorite contrast. But more than making for a sharp duo, black and white are one of the few color complements that transition from season to season. Both look hot whether your sporting a polka dot tank in the summer or a clean winter white peacoat. This color match is also all the rave for the upcoming season. As reflected by Spring 2012 Mercedes Benz New York Fashion Week it will be making an especially poignant statement this fall.

The blog radar is buzzing with black and white including This Time TomorrowAtlantic-Pacific, Tricia Gosingtian, and Fashion Chalet blogs– each sporting the look in totally different ways. The striped pattern is a particular favorite as it allows for a smooth yet bold blend, all in one piece.

Celebrities are also rocking the trend, wearing everything from black and white patterned dresses to jacket and pant combinations.

Black and white also transitions seamlessly into evening wear for a timeless look.

Fireworks+go+off+over+the+Olympic+Stadium+during+the+Opening+Ceremony+of+the+London+2012+Olympic+Games

In the spirit of this year’s Olympic Games, we’re taking the colors of the event’s iconic logo as color inspiration!

The five rings and their colors represent the different regions of the planet. For us, it represents the 5 basic colors of dresses that are absolute must-haves in every girl’s closet.

Here are my dress picks (in each color) that are all available at www.missesdressy.com:

BLUE

Alyce Designs 2138 | Jovani 158934 | Sherri Hill 2844

Channel calmness and serenity with blue! The color gives off a cool vibe that’s easy on the eyes. To add to that, blue also symbolizes royalty, so dress like a cool queen in your next event!

YELLOW

BLACK

BG Haute F19124 | Mori Lee 9008 | Jovani 71917

The ever-elegant black is your perfect choice for a chic look. Mysterious, sexy, and elegant at the same time, black is every girl’s go-to color.

Gothic Style Resurrects for Fall 2012

Salvatore Ferragamo Fall 2012

To quote fashionising.com, “If you think black is boring, think again. Fall 2012 brings all things dark out of the shadows with a neo-Gothic twist. Channeling the love of dark fairytales that’s dominating the zeitgeist, clothes as dark as night can make you fade into the background or stand out more than ever – it’s just up to your imagination.”

Black is back with a vengeance, because it doesn’t only show up in the simple-silhouetted LBD’s, but for Fall 2012, it emerges in striking magnificence: Gothic. Just check out the top designers’ take on the trend:

Alexander McQueen | Pre-Fall 2012

Versace | Fall 2012

Givenchy Haute Couture | Fall 2012

Gucci | Fall 2012

The trick to getting on the trend is choosing black pieces with rich materials and interesting textures like velvet and leather. Layer or combine sheer pieces with embellished accents. Insert a deep luxurious color too to break-up the black.

Pucci and Givenchy | Fall 2012

It’s all so exciting, so go ahead and try it. To help you pull it off, allow us to present some goth-inspired dresses by two more top designers, Jovani and Alyce Black Label. These vamp dresses are available at MissesDressy.com.

Party Outfits For The Holidays

Picnik collage

I know putting together outfits for the holidays’ numerous parties can be hard for us ladies because we’ve got tons of things to do in such a short amount of time!  So to help you lovelies with the task of creating fab party outfits, I have picked out these dresses right out of our Holiday Dresses section (together with some other items).  Now you won’t have to worry about what you’ll wear because I’ve put it all together for you!

During the holidays, there are usually three events that require us gals to look glam: the Office Christmas Party, the Christmas Party/Night Out With Friends, and the ever-so-festive New Year’s Eve Celebration.  Below you can find the outfits that I’ve put together for each event to help you save time and energy in thinking about what to wear.  Enjoy!

Office Christmas Party

Mix business with pleasure with this outfit at your office Christmas party!  Featuring the 3/4 Lace Cocktail Dress by Jovani, this number adds a little sexy touch to your smart style with the sheerness of its fabric.  Just balance the sheer out with a solid-colored purse (quilted bag) and shoes (ankle boots), and voila! you’re ready to party.  To add a little shine to all that black, wear a silver or white gold cuff (like the one in the photo).

Holiday Night Out With Friends

For your Christmas celeb with friends, be ready to paint the town with your Little RED!  The perfect dress for this event is the Draped Beadwork Cocktail Dress, also by Jovani.  Its color, while being the iconic color of the season, is also great to add some heat to winter’s harsh cold.  An excellent contrast to the warmth of red would be some ice cold bling (Swarovski chandelier earrings, above) and silver rhinestone ankle boots (Steve Madden, above).  As for makeup, smoky eyes are your best bet for that ultra-glam look (MAC Cosmetics, above).

Note: Notice that the shoes here are similar to the one at the first event?  Just pick one color that you think matches most of your clothes–that way, you can save your hard-earned moolah and still look fantastic!

New Year’s Eve Bash

End the past year and start the new one with a bang in this Tony Bowls Shorts Gold Sequin Dress, the ultimate party number!  With gold and silver sequins filling it all over, this dress will surely make you soar and shine just like a firework.  Since the dress is already heavily sequined, it’s best that you keep the accessories to a minimum with this one.  A cute addition could be these silver star earrings with rhinestones or a plain gold cuff, as worn by the model.  The shoes need to be quite toned down as well.  Try a pair in a pewter shade (Bebe, pictured above) as it’s best to underline the dress’ flash.  Don’t leave the house with bare nails, though–slather on your tips NARS’ Holiday Collection nail polish (as pictured above) and you’re ready to go.  Cheers!

LBD Finds Under $100 From Josh and Jazz

pizap.com13224961271251

The holiday season has begun and while it is a season for celebration, (sadly) it is also a season for spending.  But budget belles, worry not!  Misses Dressy has a fantastic collection of dresses under $100 that sure won’t hurt your holiday budget.  Thanks to Josh and Jazz, these trusty LBD’s at reasonable prices can be yours this season:

LBD #1 (code: 3536626) is a short strapless number with a tiered/pleated detail along the neckline.  With a short and simple cocktail dress like this one, you can go all out in the accessorizing!

Style Tip: Since this dress has zero sequins or beadwork, you can wear all the jewelry you want.  You can glam up with gold, prettify with pearls, or dazzle in diamonds–your choice!

Price: $98.00

LBD#2 (code: 1315579) is asymmetrical, with one long sleeve.  Also very simple with black sequins neatly lined along its neckline and cuff, this dress is best paired with black jewelry such as onyx or black cubic zirconia.  But if you don’t like the monochrome, try silver to add some glitz!

Style tip: With a highly versatile shape, this dress is perfect for all body types!

Price: $70.00

LBD #3 (code: 27×6805) is another strapless number with a sweetheart neckline with pleated details along its bodice.  Again with zero beadwork or sequins, this dress is calling you to accessorize to your heart’s content!

Style tip: Another great way to add drama to this LBD is to wear gloves with it: lace, satin, short or long, take your pick!

Price: $98.00

LBD #4 (code: 27×649) is another strapless mini with biased pleats and an empire waist.  The most embellished among my picks, it has black and white details dotted along its waistline.  Thanks to its biased pleats, you can keep the unavoidable holiday bulge well-hidden while you party the holidays away!

Style tip:  Done with the dress once?  Think again!  Re-work your outfit in another event with a belt.  Simply wear it over the waistline and voila–a new dress all over again!

Price: $98.00
