Non-Cookie Cutter Brides, Meet the Rania Hatoum Collection

Rania Hatoum Bridal Collection

We are so delighted to present to you the newest addition to our roster of designer bridal couture, Rania Hatoum Collection. This luxury brand, with its designer (in photo below) as its namesake, boasts of a perfect mix of “refinement and sensuality” expressed through the use of luxurious fabrics and through intricate embellishments.

Don’t get us wrong though, this brand may be all about class, but you’ll notice, as we have, how each of its pieces yell out individuality and uniqueness. Its designs are not cookie-cutter for sure.

We would absolutely recommend this brand to brides who prefer to make a statement of their personality through their wedding dress. So brides who are edgy or whimsical or minimalist or uber romantic, meet the Rania Hatoum Collection:

The piece above is LUMIERE. It showcases a bodice with Swarovski crystal embellishments and a tulle ball gown skirt.

RADIANCE features a V-neckline and scoop back. What we love about it is how it is intricately beaded throughout, with the beads embroidered to form geometric patterns.

REGAL has deconstructed French Alecon lace applique covering its bodice. It is made of charming crinkle silk organza and adorned with pearls throughout. Its mermaid skirt ends with a train having scalloped hemline.

PROMENADE is a lovely tea-length tulle piece with a dainty uneven hemline. It showcases a French Guipure lace top with cap sleeves.

DUNROBIN is a silk duchess satin and organza ball gown with a sheer top covering a sexy sweetheart neckline. The cap sleeves and organza band are embellished with silver appliques and beads.

This fashion forward bridal piece is COLETTE. It is a body skimming trumpet shape gown made of silk satin sheath in ivory. The freshest thing about it is the silk crinkle cape made of chiffon which is long enough to serve as a train, and is detachable.

PCA Red Carpet

The 39th Annual People’s Choice Awards (PCA) was held Wednesday night, January 9th at the Nokia Theater in L.A. The memorable moments from the show were Taylor Swift’s plunging neckline and her being Kanye’d by award presenter Olivia Munn, Hunger Games’ 5-award victory, powerhouse performances by equally talented artists Alicia Keys and Christina Aguilera, and many others.

But, there’s no mistaking that we all tuned in more-so to see what our favorite celebrities wore on the red carpet. Hot Trend: Nude Illusion Featuring Jovani Spring 2013 Prom Collection

Primary Photo

Spotted: the nude illusion style on a good number of pieces in the Jovani Spring 2013 Prom Collection. The nude illusion trend has been a favourite in Hollywood, and has been done by the likes of Emilio Pucci, Elie Saab, Marchesa, Roberto Cavalli, Atelier Versace, and Alexander McQueen.

Nude illusion is a dress design in which a sexy sheer fabric veils skin that would otherwise be exposed, somewhat like a stocking. This frothy confection keeps a supposedly sizzling number a notch demure to maintain the elegance and sophistication. Lace overlay, or stone and sequin-embellished tulle, are strategically positioned on the dress to create a peekaboo of skin in the most teasing areas. Such a touch of drama leaves us here at MissesDressy.com all giddy and excited. Check-out the nude illusion trend on these fun, flirty, romantic, and sassy pieces by Jovani Prom, available at MissesDressy.com.

Hauntingly Romantic: Haute Couture by Samuel Cirnansck

Samuel Cirnansck

Looking elegantly fragile and sweetly forlorn as they sat on the swings, ladies in white, nude, and black flowy fabric made up the runway for the Samuel Cirnansck Summer 2013 collection. The models, styled with loose locks and almost pale make-up, floated through the runway afterwards to showcase the lightweight ultrafeminine dresses by the Brazilian designer.

The dresses, which were said to be made 90% by hand, had a ghostly quality being mostly light and sheer in the bottom. Tulle was pleated and layered to create the hauntingly floating illusion. The dresses’ bodice were also generally see-through, strategically embellished with loads of pearls, florets, lace, and/or beads.

Disturbingly dark and romantic, these dresses would remind you of a midnight in Paris or the Goth ages; We here at MissesDressy.com were left spellbound. We’re sure you’d be too as you look at some of our picks from the runway show.

| Earth | Fire | Air | Water | The Four Elements with Designs by Nina Canacci

The Four Elements with Nina Canacci

Nina Canacci is the designer of choice for trendy yet elegant dresses. Whether for Prom, Homecoming, or Holiday parties, dress to impress with Nina Canaccis fun colors and youthful silhouettes.

And to feature some exquisite pieces from the brand, we here at MissesDressy.com took inspiration from the four elements: Earth, Fire, Water, Air.

Earth is full of a wide variety of rocks and minerals which allow growth of vegetation and support life. It is easy to think of earth as being solid dirt through and through, but in reality it is made up of several layers. Earth and its layers is glamorously represented in the Nina Canacci 5002 gown. The bodice with its silver and gold print shows the layers of earth, with the final layer being the sand-coloured shimmery skirt.

Fire creates light, heat, and smoke by a rapid chemical reaction called combustion. Create the same effect with Nina Canacci 4039. Just like fire, this hot pink dress is perfect for the lady who is fierce, passionate, and not afraid to stand-out.

Air, though invisible, is all around and needless to say, irreplaceable in sustaining life. Nina Canacci 4029 conveys similar qualities as air: light, pure, and silently powerful. Float in the subtle color and the light fabric yet knock ‘em out with the ‘hey look at me‘ sexy cut.

Water is fluid and sensual; and under the moonlight, very luminescent. Look absolutely stunning like the water goddess that you are in this midnight blue Nina Canacci 5004, with its glittering sequins.

So, tell us your favorite. Happy shopping!

Autumn Trend Alert: Velvet

featured

Ah, velvet. The quintessential fall staple and one of the few fabrics pinned specifically to fall/winter seasons. Velvet is the perfect way to add interest to an outfit with it’s classic look and texture. But per usual, with any bold fabric or print, it must be worn with balance. Overdoing it on velvet can result in complete and utter disaster. Too much can create a gaudy, ultra shiny look– yikes! A few weeks ago we featured a post spotlighting our own velvet dresses, but this time we want to highlight other ways to wear the look. Some of our favorite celebrities have been seen sporting velvet, and of course top designers during Fall 2012 Fashion Week predicted the trend with fabulous runway fashion.

Celebrities in Velvet

As we all know Kim Kardashian love dresses. Short ones, long ones, colored ones, black ones, it doesn’t matter. Apparently she’s also a fan of velvet– green velvet specifically. She was spotted wearing a Gucci F/W 2012 dress (left) at her Midori event, though it wasn’t the most flattering look on her. Prior, while attending the 2012 White House Correspondents Association dinner (we were thinking the same thing.. how’d she get that invite?) she also wore a full length sleeveless velvet gown (right). This was a much better choice, and great way to show the elegant simplicity of the fabric.

Sarah Jessica Parker is also partial to a velvet accent or two. Blazers are her forte as she’s been spotted wearing them on more than one occasion. We’re not complaining though– she wears the look fabulously.  To an event at MOMA (left) she shows how velvet can enhance a polished, dressy look and also how it can jazz up a simple t-shirt and jeans (right).

Elizabeth Olsen (left) and Whitney Port (right) know how to rock a velvet pant. In Elizabeth’s case she went all the way with a velvet suit! This is obviously risky, and it wasn’t necessarily a crowd favorite, but she definitely pulled it off. Whitney also took a fashion leap, bringing back crushed velvet. Whew– such daredevils!

Velvet on the Runway

Gucci F/W 2012

That’s Kim K’s dress on the right. Looks better on the model doesn’t it?

Giorgio Armani F/W 2012

L ‘Wren Scott F/W 2012

Ralph Lauren F/W 2012

Velvet may not be your favorite fall fabric (say that three times) but it’s definitely on the fashion radar and a great way to spice up your wardrobe. Dive-in already before the season flies by!

Muse Monday: Keira Knightley in October Vogue

feature

Channeling nineteenth century style, Keira Knightley graces the October cover of Vogue with her usual quiet charm. Photographer Mario Testino captured the elegant confidence of the actress while dressed as the lead character from her upcoming film. The new movie, Anna Karenina, is an adaptation of the 1877 Leo Tolstoy novel of the same name. In other words, that means vintage fashion mixed with a star-studded cast, including Jude Law and  Aaron-Tyler Johnson (swoon). We’re in. Set to debut in theaters all over the US this November, the film is a highly anticipated tale about the toils of love. Not to mention it’s directed by the great mind behind Pride and Prejudice, Joe Wright.

As her fifth cover, Keira is an official Vogue veteran and had no problem flexing her muscles in the spread. She was graceful, statuesque (nearly “porcelain-esque”), and all but teleported us back to high society Russia. With each image I grew increasingly curious about this Anna Karenina’s story. Judging from the shoot, she is certainly a woman of mystery. Enigmatic, to say the least. We’ll be biting our nails until the films release!

Inspired by the romanticism of nineteenth century fashion, take a look at a few Allure Bridals Couture wedding gowns available at MissesDressy.
