Non-Cookie Cutter Brides, Meet the Rania Hatoum Collection

Rania Hatoum Bridal Collection

We are so delighted to present to you the newest addition to our roster of designer bridal couture, Rania Hatoum Collection. This luxury brand, with its designer (in photo below) as its namesake, boasts of a perfect mix of “refinement and sensuality” expressed through the use of luxurious fabrics and through intricate embellishments.

Don’t get us wrong though, this brand may be all about class, but you’ll notice, as we have, how each of its pieces yell out individuality and uniqueness. Its designs are not cookie-cutter for sure.

We would absolutely recommend this brand to brides who prefer to make a statement of their personality through their wedding dress. So brides who are edgy or whimsical or minimalist or uber romantic, meet the Rania Hatoum Collection:

The piece above is LUMIERE. It showcases a bodice with Swarovski crystal embellishments and a tulle ball gown skirt.

RADIANCE features a V-neckline and scoop back. What we love about it is how it is intricately beaded throughout, with the beads embroidered to form geometric patterns.

REGAL has deconstructed French Alecon lace applique covering its bodice. It is made of charming crinkle silk organza and adorned with pearls throughout. Its mermaid skirt ends with a train having scalloped hemline.

PROMENADE is a lovely tea-length tulle piece with a dainty uneven hemline. It showcases a French Guipure lace top with cap sleeves.

DUNROBIN is a silk duchess satin and organza ball gown with a sheer top covering a sexy sweetheart neckline. The cap sleeves and organza band are embellished with silver appliques and beads.

This fashion forward bridal piece is COLETTE. It is a body skimming trumpet shape gown made of silk satin sheath in ivory. The freshest thing about it is the silk crinkle cape made of chiffon which is long enough to serve as a train, and is detachable.

Bridal or Red Carpet? Reem Acra Pre-Spring 2013

Reem Acra Resort 2013

For pre-Spring 2013, topnotch designer, Reem Acra presents a collection more than worthy of the walk down the aisle AND the red carpet. This outstanding designer has fully transcended from Bridal to Hollywood. And this time she seems to be drawing in the younger crowd again. We imagine, with the colored-lace short dresses, the fluid caftans, the flowy and embellished tulle gowns, she will  attract the likes of Selena Gomez, Lea Michele, Dianna Agron, Vanessa Hudgens, Anna Kendrick, Emma Roberts, who not to mention, have already worn her creations.

Acra’s palette includes ivory and champagne, sugary pastels (peach and mint green), and jewel tones. Her pleating plus layering to make full skirts is genius. She perfectly balances pretty and polished, romantic and unique with her strategic positioning of lace and beads.

We’re neither a bride nor a soon-to-be Prom queen, but we’re loving on these dresses! We particularly love the ivory dress with sheer-laced sleeves (first row), nude dress with sheer-beaded sleeves and ruffles in the skirt (third row), and the peach dress with lace from bodice to skirt (fourth row). Which is your favorite?

The Rebellious Bride: Top 8 Bridal Dress Trends for 2013

cool-bride-wallpaper,1366x768,63946

The 21st century bride no longer abides to customs and traditions of old, well at least, in terms of style. We see that she asserts herself, speaking her mind through fashion, and daring to show who she is by telling her story through unconventional styling. With that in mind, our trusty designers put twists to bridal gown designs to convey the differing personalities of their ultimate muse: the rebellious bride.

Here are our top 8 bridal dress trends, perfect for the modern brides.

1. Rouged, etc. Brides just wanna have fun; and fun they find in cheery colours: red, pink, blush, even greens and blues. The fierce fearless bride wouldn’t settle for white, and instead, would choose to be bright and beautiful in a coloured wedding dress.

2. But wait ’til you see the back. For a quirky surprise and sexy drama, especially for the long walk down the aisle and the pictorial, brides put attention to the back part of the dress with beautiful lace, intricate embroideries, bold peekaboo, and detailed embellishments.

3. High Fashion Neckline. Extremely high and low necklines are favored by the rogue brides to frame their face to perfection. It is also a great way to balance the amount of skin they want to show-off.

4. One-Shoulder Treatment. The Ms. Independent bride would most likely go for the one-shoulder design for it gives that structured geometric aesthetic while baring some sexy skin.

5. Lace, Lace, Lace. The classic and timeless lace gets an edgy upgrade due to its head-to-toe usage in most of the current designs. Uberly romantic brides can add a touch of whimsy to their styling with these pieces.

6. Trick and Treat. Illusion details in dresses are for the brides who want to give a hint of skin while staying covered up with the use of sheer materials. These also create additional graceful movements and allow a more unpredictable placement of accents like applique, sequins, lace, and beads.

Celebrity Wedding: Anne Hathaway + Adam Shulman (First Peek)

Anne Hathaway+ Adam Shulman

29 September 2012, one of our favorite actresses, Anne Hathaway, and actor-jeweler, Adam Shulman got married at sunset in a private estate in Big Sur California. The couple tied the knot in front of more than a hundred guests in an intimate setting which People magazine described as having “nature-inspired décor that incorporated lots of branches“; while a source told Celebuzz that the “white, pink, and rustic affair had over $100,000 worth of flowers“.

Anne and Adam started dating in 2008, and got engaged last November when Mr. Shulman proposed with a six-carat ring he co-designed with Kwiat Jewelers. Below are photo sets which we hope could represent the lovers’ romantic story:

I am very much in love with him, Adam totally ruined my plan. I was really actually looking forward to a little alone time, and then I fell in love like a fool!” ~Anne Hathaway

The usually fashionable couple didn’t disappoint style gawkers like us. First, they enlisted Yifat Oren, the wedding planner who also organized Ms. Natalie Portman’s wedding in the same venue, to wow us design-wise. Second, the groom kept his sexy scruffy look and was yummy handsome in a classic tux. And third, the bride had none other than Valentino create the perfect gown for her.  According to a representative for Valentino, “the design team created a strapless ivory silk point d’esprit tulle dress, which includes a pink hand-painted shaded train embroidered with satin flowers. The 1920s-inspired veil consists of a lace ribbon with a large flower, adorned with small crystal beads”. Here’s the sketch released by Valentino of the enchanting gown:

We love the soft subtle pink applied on the gown which made Anne Hathaway nothing less than a lovely Blushing Bride. We also adore how she incorporated her own take of the trendy Flower Crown  as a dramatic headpiece to add to the vintage veil. Below are examples of the style.

We can’t stop gushing about this lovely celebrity wedding! So we hope our cheers reach Anne and Adam. Love!

Are you the fearless bride who could go over the top just to make your wedding style exciting? Then, a whimsical wedding is for you. If you are not the boring type, we have here some cool tips and tricks you might find useful.

First, consider donning exuberant artsy accents like butterflies or flowers on your head or dress. This is going for a fashion editorial effect.

Second, try using large pieces of jewelry.

Third, try to use your veil as a fashion piece.

Fourth, choose a wedding dress in your favorite color.

The still blue Aegean sea and soft-white rock houses would be your magnificent backdrops if you were to wed in the beautiful Santorini in Greece. The mood would be a paradox of laid back and festive. And, if you would take time to study the rich customs of the Greeks, you would find quirky and charming little tributes that you could incorporate in the ceremony and celebration to make it more fun and unique. Try having a donkey take you on a short parade to the ceremony venue or do a customary Greek dance.

As for the bridal dress, here are some lovely gowns by Mori Lee available at MissesDressy.com that would be perfect for a wedding in Greece:

Mirror Mirror on my Laptop?!

mirror

Remember the computer program called Virtual Makeover? It was a program where you can take a photograph of yourself and add different hairstyles and make-up styles. It was a lot of fun, but it just didn’t seem real, and I never took the tips that the Virtual Makeover suggested, because the “hair” always looked like molded plastic.

I stumbled upon an interesting article while reading my fashion blogs a really cool, newly introduced program called Virtual Mirror. The Virtual Mirror is only fitting for those hardcore online shoppers and thinking into the future, we soon may be able to “try” on clothes online—not for fit, but simply for looks. I agree, there is nothing like trying on the clothes and looking into a real mirror, but think about how much we will save in return shipping fees and restocking fees?! Can you imagine future brides virtually trying on their Jovani wedding dress or Terani Couture Evening engagement party dress?! The only items needed are your computer and webcam (necessary so the virtual mirror can “see” you).

The Virtual Mirror, alas, is only available on an Australian boutique accessory website, simply called Boutique Accessories, so for our Aussie readers, check out the website and “try” on a few baubles.

For those outside of Australia, the jewelry and accessories offered are really fashionable, I was thinking that many of the earrings have that beach-y, almost Hale Bob dress kind of feel. Too bad, I’m in NYC. Check out this gorgeous Sophie Kyron statement necklace featuring an elegant array of turquoise beads, which would go smashingly with this elegantly and beach-inspired Hale Bob maxi dress. Why not add a pair of dangly earrings for that added touch of dreamy sparkle for your warm destination? Earrings are also designed by Sophie Kyron.

Imagine a world where we can buy our clothes and formal attire online, fully knowing that it will look fabulous on us when Mr. Postman delivers it? Or trying on your wedding gown at home and then click to add to your shopping cart all while still in your PJ’s and fluffy bear feet slippers? Can the future of online shopping be that simple?! Maybe we’ll be able to add this Virtual Mirror feature to MissesDressy. Maybe the Shopping Gods are really listening to our shopping prayers after all.
