What to Wear: Wedding Guest Looks

Did you know that there is an average of 2.3 million American couples who gets married in a year? And that 6 months is the average length of engagements? Also, that the most popular months for weddings are June, followed closely by August? Which explains why some women are already getting panicky at this time of month… and I’m only talking about the wedding guests.
Wedding guests, mostly women, are often at loss for ideas on what to wear for that special event they were invited to. The most common dilemma is wanting to look fabulous in the appropriate dress without stealing the bride’s thunder. In other words, they want to look more fabulous than the rest of the guests invited yet look less fabulous than the bride. No wonder these women go crazy trying to come up with the right look.
If you are reading this, then chances are you have been invited to a wedding of a friend or relative and need help with a suitable, yet fab wedding guest look. Read on for some age appropriate looks you can try out:
Semi-Formal
If the wedding invitation states that the event will be semi-formal, the best and safe dress to wear is a cocktail dress with minimum crystal or sequin embellishment. Keep it classy and avoid getting ones that are too short.

Formal/Black Tie
A black tie wedding is the most formal type of wedding which usually takes place in the evening and would require you to wear a gown. Again, keep it classy. Since it is a black tie event, you can wear gowns that are strapless or have thigh high slits just as long as you choose ones that are not too revealing or vulgar.

Casual/Outdoor Wedding
Casual could mean an outdoor wedding; perhaps the wedding you are invited to will be held in a garden or a beach. When a wedding invitation states that the event will be casual, it doesn’t mean you can attend wearing jeans/shorts, tank tops, or basically anything too casual. Remember that you are attending a wedding therefore you still have to respect the special event and wear something appropriate like a sundress.

It is common knowledge that as a wedding guest, we shouldn’t wear white especially since it can take away from the bride. But now that we are living in modern times and rules or etiquette such as this have become more lenient, wedding guests are allowed to wear white just as long as they wear one with print. Remember though, that it is always better to ask the bride.
